Chapter 21: A Lead and Location

In the forest, Hutch, Wildflower, Comet, and Can-du were sniffing around the area.

"Found anything yet?" Hutch asks Wildflower softly,

Her response was a sad nod.

"I see." Hutch says, "But I promise I'll find them if it kills me."

Meanwhile, Can-du had caught a whiff of something and followed it under a bush.

"What's this?" Can-du asks, and sees a card.

"Hey, I found something!" Can-du yells as he picks up the card and tries to get out of the bush, but is unable to.

"What is it?" Hutch asks eagerly,

"It's some sort of a card!" Can-du says, "But I can't get out!"

"Allow me!" Wildflower says, grabbing one of Can-du's hind paws and yanking him out.

"Whoa, easy!" Can-du says, surprised from Wildflower's act.

"Sorry." Wildflower says,

"This card looks important." Hutch says, observing the object. "We better take it back to the leaders."

Later, Hutch and the others had returned to the clearing where Kate, Garth, Lilly, and Humphrey waited.

"Found anything?" Kate asks Hutch, hoping he did,

"Yes." Hutch says, then drops the card in front of Kate, "We think it may help."

"I think you're right." Kate says, realizing the card has a name on it and place where the supposed person worked.

"'San Diego Zoo'?" Garth asks,

"That's hundreds of miles away!" Lilly says,

"But it might be where our pups are." Humphrey says in a stern tone, "And I'm going."

"Wait." Kate says as Humphrey's about to walk off, "I'm coming with you."

"As am I." Garth says, walking up.

"Same here." Lilly says with a hint of courage in her voice

"Who will lead the packs?" Humphrey asks,

"We will." Winston says as he and Tony walk up,

"If this mission is important to you, then we'll take over your jobs until you return." Tony says,

"Thanks, Dad." Garth says,

"You 4 are going to need some bodyguards." Hutch says, walking up.

"We're coming too." Wildflower says, finishing Hutch's sentence.

"So am I." Comet says, "My strong senses may be helpful."

"As am I." A voice says, and everyone turns to see Claw. "They may not be my pups, but I'm not going to let them stay where they are."

"Welcome to the team." Kate says,

"We're coming too." someone with a french accent says,

"We can easily scope out the area from above." Paddy says as he and Marcel land.

"Very well then." Garth says, "You can be our air patrol."

"Let's go. We can't lose time." Humphrey says sternly and starts running south.

The other wolves and the waterfowl soon follow after Humphrey and Kate catches up with him.

"Humphrey, I know you want to find our pups, but I'm afraid you've lost your Omega side." Kate says,

Humphrey responds by tackling Kate and pinning the golden wolf on her back.

"I still got some Omega in me." Humphrey says, giving a small, playful grin. "Now let's go!"

Humphrey gets off of Kate and they continue running south with the others.

Later, at sunset. The group reaches a visitors area and notice some cars pulling out.

"We need to find a vehicle that's heading south for San Diego." Kate says,

Suddenly, as if by luck...

"So, ready to go back to San Diego?" a human says, catching the wolves' attention.

"You bet." A bus driver says, "I can't wait to get home."

"There's out ride." Garth says,

"And it's big enough for all of us." Kate says,

After the people turn away, the wolves run over the bus and back against it. Kate looks around the side and notices the people entering the bus and and 2 open luggage compartments.

"We can get into the luggage compartment." Kate whispers,

Just after the people get in, Kate, Humphrey, Lilly, and Garth get into one compartment while Hutch, Wildflower, Comet, and Claw get into the other.

"We'll keep an eye on you from above." Marcel says as he and Paddy take off,

Garth and Claw quickly close the compartment doors just as the driver gets back on the bus. Then the large vehicle heads down the road bound for San Diego.
