Balto 4: SOTW: Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Inning Stretch

"Uncle Boris!" a voice yells out,

"Uh-oh." Boris says,

"Sounds like Muk and Luk are back." Balto says,

Just then, a Polar Bear cubs comes up running toward Boris followed by a larger cub.

"Okay, slow down boys!" Balto says,

The two polar bears stop right in front of Boris and Stella.

"No, no, Muk." Stella says as the smaller one is about to hug Boris, "You know your Uncle Boris doesn't like that."

"Right, sorry." Muk says,

"Eh, don't worry about it." Boris says, then he turns to Stella. "May I offer you a seat?"

"You sure may." Stella says as she and Boris sit down between Balto and the polar bears.

"Am I late?" A voice says, causing everyone to look back and see a dark red husky walk up to them.

"Hey Yukon." Kodi says, "You're just in time. Dingo and the others are almost here."

"Not almost, Kodi." Nunivat says, "They ARE here!"

Then a sled team whips around a corner with another team close behind. Then the team behind the other starts to gain the lead.

"Hey! Leave some room for the others, kid!" The lead dog on the opposing team says,

"We'll see about that!" The lead dog on the other team, a red husky, says,

"Come on Dingo! Let's show them what we got!" Another husky, but with red-brown fur, says to her leader.

"You got it, Dana!" Dingo says, as he rushes past the opposing sled team and crosses the finish line with the other team close behind.

"Aright! Way to go Dingo!" Nunivat says,

"Now he can join the finalists with us!" Kodi says,

"Good run, kid." The leader of the opposing team says, "You sure have the skills of your father like your bother does."

"Thanks." Dingo says, "You didn't do bad yourself."

"Okay now, Fiona, Vincent, Rico, Forest, return home," Dingo's musher said as he releases the dogs, "Dingo, Dana, your coming with me."

"Hey, Dingo." Balto says as he, Kodi, and Dusty walk up to him.

"Hey Dad." Dingo says as he follows his musher.

"Nice going." Kodi says, "Now you can join my team in the finalists."

"Well, I couldn't have done it without Dana here." Dingo says, bumping the red-brown husky, causing her to chuckle a bit.

"Okay you two, come on." Dingo's musher says as he opens the door to the General Store.

"Wait here, we'll be back." Dingo says as he and Dana enter the store.

"Okay," Balto says, then he sits down outside with Kodi and Dusty.

Then Nunivat and the others came and walked up to Balto and the other two.
"So?" Saba asks,

"He's in." Balto says,

Meanwhile, in the General Store, Dingo's musher removes Dana's collar from her and puts it on the counter, then he takes another one, but with a blue strap.

"Here you go, girl." The musher says as he puts the new collar on Dana's neck.

"You know, you kinda look more cute without the collar." Dingo says,

"Really?" Dana asks,

"Well, without the old one you do." Dingo says, "But you look even better with the new one."

"Thanks." Dana says, blushing a bit as they follow their musher out the door.

After leaving, Dingo and Dana walk up to Balto's group.

"Hey, Dingo." Saba says, "Heard you were in the finalists."

"Yeah, it's great." Dingo says, "I'm just doing this for the fun of it you know, I don't really care about winning the championship."

"We know that." Yukon says,

"But I'm going to beat Kodi's butt in the next race." Dingo says,

"We'll see about that." Kodi says,

"Okay you two, there's no reason to fight." Dana interrupts.

"Hey Dana, isn't that a new collar?" Nunivat asks Dana,

"This old thing? Yes." Dana says,

"I thought so." Nunivat replies,

"I can let wear it sometime if you want." Dana says,

"No thanks." Nunivat says, "I don't like wearing accessories."

"Okay." Dana says,

Just then, the Graham-Paige Train Nunivat and Jenna saw earlier passes down the street.

"Hey Mom, doesn't that car look familiar?" Nunivat asks Jenna.

"Yes, it's the car we saw this morning." Jenna says.

"I'll be back." Nunivat says, then she chases after the car.

"Hey! Wait up!" Kodi yells as he and the others except for Balto and Yukon chase after her.

Just then, Yukon sees a young husky with silver fur.

"Excuse me, Dad." Yukon says, starting to walk off.

"Sure." Balto says,

Yukon walks over to the silver husky, but he's cut off by a dark gray husky who starts growling at him.

"Hey take it easy." Yukon says as he remains calm.

"Yang! Stand down!" The silver husky says, then the dark gray one stops growling and backs away from Yukon.

"Sorry about that." The silver husky says to Yukon, "He was just protecting me."

"No kidding." Yukon says,

"You look familiar, what's your name?" The silver husky asks,

"Yukon." Yukon replies,

"'Yukon', now I remember, you and I knew each other as pups!" The silver husky says,

"I thought you'd remember me, Yin." Yukon says,

"You haven't changed a bit." Yin says,

"Your brother sure has." Yukon says, "What's with him protecting you?"

"It's because of an accident that happened in 1826." Yin says,

"Really?" Yukon asks,

"Yes." Yang replies, "Yin was in a building that was burning down. We thought she was lost, but our father came out with her still alive. I then swore that I'd protect Yin for the rest of my life."

"Oh." Yukon says, "So that answers why you nearly attacked me."

"Yeah, sorry about that." Yang says,

"Don't worry." Yukon says, "I understand."

"So, how's the family?" Yin asks,

"Good." Yukon says, "They were chasing after a car a few minutes ago."
